Yeah, we liked him when he hung out with Pete Doherty in The Libertines, but since fronting our favourite indie band Dirty Pretty Things Mr Barat's soared off the hot (and cool) scale.
What's it like being a bona fide rock god?
(Laughs) It's very flattering when people say it. I beat John Lennon in a rock hero poll recently - how mad is that?
So, its all sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll?
I won't deny it - we've been known to get the odd bra thrown at us! We
can party, although its all half -eaten sandwiches right now.
Do you have any pre-gig rituals that you do?
Yes. I've got OCD - I always touch wood before going on, which is annoying.
Do you still see your old mate Pete Doherty?
I haven't seen him since New Years Eve, but we still get on. Pete's doing what he wants and I've got faith in him that he'll be fine.
What's your biggest indulgence at the moment?
Comfort shopping. I buy lots of DVD's. I just bought Father Ted and Blackadder and we watched them on the tour bus. What do you mean it's not very rock 'n' roll?
Tell us a secret...
I'm getting a tattoo of a little crown to celebrate being in the new band. We're all getting the same one.
What secret urge do you get that you never act on?
Telling jokes. I'm too shy. I build up to it and then decide not to.
What's the most irritating thing a woman can do?
Need reassurance. Like, you say, ' Wanna come to a gig?' And they say, 'Yeah, cool,' then when you ask how they're getting there they get all iffy and go, ' Oh, well I won't come then., What's that all about? It's like a complete lack of logic.
Who's your shouldn't but would woman?
The newsreader Anna Ford. She's older now but she was amazing years ago.
If you could have a super power what would it be?
Flying very fast. I'd go to India because Iv' e never been.
What makes you angry?
Rude people. I encounter them on a daily basis. You know the ones that push in? I usually bite my lip but it's starting to get quite sore now.
What's the most amount of people you've woken up with?
Lots. You do mean at the end of a tour when everyone's crashed out don't you? If you mean women then I can't say. I think you're trying to get me into trouble with my girlfriend!
What's Your secret skill?
Table football. We've got one backstage which we play.
What would a person who doesn't like you say about you?
That I'm arrogant. Cos they know it'd really annoy me - especially as I go out of my way not to be.
Which celeb could you beat up in a fight?
Paul O' Grady. He's got his little dog though, that tips the balance abit doesn't it?
