Deadwood
Now he may pretend to be a threadbare scallywag, but surely Carl Barat (or label Vertigo) could afford some better quality recording equipment for Dirty Pretty Things' tunes. Because, for some reason, 'Deadwood' - maybe it's down to the name - sounds like it was recorded in a coffin. Sure, it's less ramshackle than Babyshambles' efforts, but there's a faint background hum about this one that's just plain irritating.
Although it's more likely to spurn a mass whirlwind of post-Libertines bouncing, get past the nuisance, and it's an alright piece of chugging rock n' roll. Hell, there's even a bit that makes you want to dance the Charleston!
