Maybe it's just the cod-psychologist in us talking - you would too, if you'd seen as many episodes of Trisha - but it seems that Carl Barat appears to have a bit of a self-destruction complex. Between smashing his head in and almost blinding himself, sprouting a tumour that's left him deaf in one ear, and most recently shattering an arm in a drunken motorcycle escapade, his own body seems to be plotting to overshadow his records by bleeding all over them.

Still, it'll have a hard time trying to overshadow 'Wondering', the prettiest peach off 'Waterloo To Anywhere' and a paean to being the last gang in town. The guitars have all the teeth you'd expect from DPT while oozing a bruised melancholia, perfect for singing along to as the sun sets. Get well soon, Carl. And stay lucky.
