I have so much respect for that relationship

06 May 07 - Dirty Pretty Things guitarist Anthony Rossomando has confirmed the band are continuing, despite rumours of a Libertines reunion.

Rossomando, who stood in for Pete Doherty in The Libertines, told the Music Week that the on-stage reunion between Carl Barat and Pete Doherty at the Hackney Empire recently was not a sign of things to come.

"If Pete and Carl see each other across the road, there's speculation," said Rossomando. "Carl did that gig to show it's all cool. But there won't be a Libertines band putting out a Libertines record any time in the near future.

"It's 2007 and there's a lot more to say and a lot more to do and the world changes very fast these days. There's new relationships and new blood boiling and that's what everyone should pay attention to."

But he added: "I have this weird feeling they're going to make a record together in ten years... when they're both over it. I have so much respect for that relationship."

The band are playing the Isle of Skye Music festival on 26 May and the Ironworks in Inverness on 27 May, while they write for the new album.

The DPT guitarist said: "It's going better than album number one in a few ways. It's going well because we have a chance to be a band - we didn't really have a chance to be a band when we started, it was a bunch of guys throwing ideas at each other.

"After all the touring we did last year, we feel like a proper rock and roll band. We know each other to a fault, I'd say."
